Every article you see has been written by a named journalist, reviewed by an editor and fact‑checked before publication. What do we rely on day to day?
We rely on primary sources, official documents, direct interviews and verifiable data from Swedish and international institutions. No story is published without clear attribution.
Our journalists routinely draw from the Swedish government’s open data portals, parliamentary records (riksdagen.se), Statistics Sweden (SCB), central bank (Riksbanken) reports, and EU institutions. For business and economic coverage, we use company filings, regulatory announcements and independent analyst briefings. When we cite a think tank or academic study, we link to the original paper or summary. On‑the‑ground reporting may involve interviews with named sources; where a source requires anonymity for safety or professional reasons, we explain why and seek corroboration from at least one additional source. How can you challenge our reporting?
If you believe we have made an error, omitted important context or presented information unfairly, you can challenge it directly. We treat every challenge seriously and respond within five working days.
Start by contacting our fact‑checking desk at factcheck@abendfokus.de or the responsible editor on the relevant beat. For policy or political stories, that is Niklas Werner (Politikredaktör); for economic stories, Johanna Weiß (Wirtschaftreporter); for culture and society, Maximilian Albrecht; for general newsroom issues, Redaktionschef Maria Braun. If your concern involves a potential breach of our editorial standards, you may use our formal Complaints Procedure, which is overseen by Chefredaktör Thomas Bergmann. We publish corrections promptly and clearly – see our Corrections Policy for details. Where a challenge leads to a significant change, we add an editor’s note at the top or bottom of the article.
Who is responsible for what we publish?
Every piece of editorial content is the responsibility of a named writer and a human editor. Chefredaktör Thomas Bergmann has final authority over all publication decisions and corrections.
Our editorial team is structured by beat. Maria Braun, as Redaktionschef, oversees the daily newsroom, headline review and commissioning. Niklas Werner covers the Riksdag, government and municipal politics. Johanna Weiß reports on the economy, markets and household finance. Maximilian Albrecht handles culture, lifestyle and society. Lisa Otto leads fact‑checking and source verification. Each article is assigned to a writer who drafts it, then an editor reviews it for accuracy, clarity and fairness. AI‑assisted tools may support research, drafting or formatting, but they never replace human judgement – every piece is approved by a human editor before publication. How do we handle mistakes?
We correct errors as soon as we become aware of them, and we do so transparently. A correction notice is added to the article and, where warranted, a separate correction note is published on our corrections page.
If a mistake is minor – a misspelling, a wrong date – we fix it online and note the change in the article footer. For substantive errors that change the meaning of a story, we replace the text and add an editor’s note explaining what was wrong, what the correct information is, and when the change was made. Readers may submit a correction request via corrections@abendfokus.de or by using the “report a correction” link at the bottom of every article. What you can expect from us
You can expect original journalism that is fair, accurate and independent of commercial or political influence. Every article is fact‑checked before publication, and all sponsored or affiliate content is clearly labelled.
We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Commercial partnerships, display advertising, affiliate links and sponsored content are clearly separated from news decisions.
