Abendfokus (abendfokus.de) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This policy explains how copyright owners can request the removal of infringing material – including images – and how we handle such requests. All takedown notices should be sent to copyright@abendfokus.de.
How do you submit a copyright takedown request?
Send a written notice to our dedicated copyright address – copyright@abendfokus.de – addressed to the publisher, Abendfokus Media Ltd. We will acknowledge receipt within two business days and investigate promptly.
We recommend using the subject line “Takedown Request – Abendfocus” to ensure priority handling. If you prefer postal mail, our registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000, Malta. However, email is fastest and preferred.
What information must be included in a takedown notice?
Your notice must contain all of the following elements to be valid under applicable law. Incomplete notices may be returned for clarification, delaying the process.
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorised representative.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, including a specific URL or screenshot if the work is an image, article or other asset.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the exact page URL and, if applicable, the image file name).
- Your contact information: full name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
What happens after we receive a valid notice?
We will review the notice against our Editorial Policy and applicable law. If the claim appears valid, we will remove or disable access to the material promptly – typically within three to five business days.
We will also notify the content provider (the author or uploader) of the removal and provide them with a copy of your notice. They may submit a counter-notification if they believe the material was removed in error. Counter-notifications must include the same level of detail and be sent to copyright@abendfokus.de.
What you can expect from us
We take copyright compliance seriously. Our fact-checking team, led by Lisa Otto (ansvarig för faktagranskning), reviews image rights before publication, but errors can occur. We will act in good faith, never knowingly host infringing material, and will respond to every valid notice without delay.
We do not use AI to generate images or fabricate visual content. Any AI-assisted tools used for image selection are overseen by human editors. All editorial content – including images – must be sourced lawfully and attributed where possible.
How do we handle image rights and attribution?
Images published on Abendfokus are either licensed directly from stock agencies, obtained under Creative Commons or equivalent open licences, used with permission of the rights holder, or produced by our editorial team. Every image is reviewed by the responsible section editor before publication.
If you believe an image on our site infringes your rights, please follow the takedown procedure above. We also encourage you to contact our advertising and partnerships team at partnerships@abendfokus.de if you hold rights to material you would like us to licence properly.
